Resy Hackathon

An app that powers the world's best restaurants, using technology to imagine the future of hospitality.

Overview

Resy's newest initiative is to Launch "Resy ReMIX" as a response to adapting to the current dining landscape. This gives restaurant goers access to exciting and unique dining experiences.

Role: UX/UI Designer, Researcher, Presenter

Tools: Figma, FigJam, Canva, Google Forms & Drive, Monday.com

Duration: 1 Week

The Problem

  • Diners are looking for new dining experiences but don't know where to look

  • 4,000+ restaurants to utilize and partner with this program built for restauranteurs

Goals

KPIs:

1) Increase number of total registrations

2) Decrease the time of check in process for events

3) Increase social presence by promoting a hashtag

Design Process

Research

Our research process included conducting 4 interviews to understand users' preferences when dining out and what makes an event experience worthwhile. Then the data was synthesized to learn about our users, their goals, and pain points.

Competitive Analysis

Companies were selected that are direct competitors of Resy in order to compare how restaurants are found and how reservations are made within the app.

Comparative Analysis

My team and I also conducted a comparative analysis to gain inspiration from platforms that focus on experiences and events to incorporate in to Resy.

Persona

Service Blueprint

  • People: The chefs and restaurant staff that you interact with

  • Place: The restaurant where the event takes place

  • Prop: Mobile application and desktop website you use to book your experience

  • Partner: The restaurant owners and chefs that Resy collaborates with to put on these ReMIX events; American Express, Resy's official partner

  • Process: The steps you take from signing up for an event, waiting in anticipation for event details, attending the ReMIX dining experience, and learning more the chefs after

Initial Solutions

The following ideas added interest, but they were ultimately either not feasible or not solving our problem:

  • Studio Space- Resy rents out a studio space of events such as cooking classes, mixers, private dinners, etc.

  • NFT Event Badges- Resy Events would now reward event goers with an NFT Badge of Attendance for diners to collect

  • Culinary Community Fund- Restaurants and chefs would be able to apply for the community fund to get funding to promote their establishments

  • Private Dining with Chef (Series)- Resy would host a private dining experience with a special guest chef

Final Solution

RESY REMIX

  • Pick a neighborhood: "Sign up for the unexpected" - You'll choose a Resy ReMIX event based on the neighborhood and dietary restrictions but the exact restaurant, cuisine, and chefs will be unknown.

  • Feel the anticipation: "Get notified about the event details"- A day before the event you'll receive an email that reveals the address and other key details. You'll learn about the set menu and chefs curating your dining experience once you arrive.

  • Share the love: "Stay connected with the chefs"- Look out for an email after the event with info about the chefs, their origins, and the inspiration behind the menu. When you find a dish that you love, follow the chefs on social media to dine with them again in the future.
